Research Focus

Dr. Okusanya earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Texas Southern University, Houston, TX. He then completed a pharmacy practice residency at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA and a post-doctorate drug development fellowship at the State University of New York at Buffalo, Buffalo, NY. During his fellowship, which had a strong emphasis in pharmacometrics, Dr. Okusanya also earned a Masters in Pharmacometrics from the Department of Pharmaceutics at the State University of New York at Buffalo, Buffalo, NY.

His main professional interest is the application of systems biology in modeling and simulation. He is also interested in leveraging knowledge gleaned from the understanding of the time-course of pharmacodynamic effects from in vivo and in vitro experiments to human studies in order to optimize outcomes. Dr. Okusanya has tremendous experience with translational research in the area of infectious diseases.

Currently a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist, Dr. Okusanya is actively involved in a variety of professional societies, including the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and American Society of Microbiology.
